- Having a robot write your text
- Hiding text for additional keywords in the same color font as your site’s background
- Using link farms and paid links to create a network of inbound links to your site

A Google penalty is a monetary penalty imposed on a website whose content violates Google’s marketing policies. This penalty could be imposed as a result of a Google ranking algorithm update or a manual analysis indicating that a website used “black hat” SEO tactics. For example, a minor breach of the Google Webmaster Guidelines could result in a 30-day suspension, whereas a more serious offence could result in a longer suspension. The manual penalty will automatically expire after this period has passed.
